Codes of practice
Four of the electrical safety codes of practice have been amended to ensure they remain consistent with changes to the Electrical Safety Regulation 2013. These amendments do not introduce any new requirements for persons conducting a business or undertaking (PCBUs).
These updated codes will commence on 1 January 2025:
- Construction and operation of solar farms Code of Practice 2024 (PDF, 0.9 MB)
- Electrical safety Code of Practice 2020 – Electrical equipment rural industry (PDF, 0.58 MB)
- Electrical safety Code of Practice 2020 – Working near overhead and underground electric lines (PDF, 0.55 MB)
- Electrical safety Code of Practice 2021 – Managing electrical risks in the workplace (PDF, 1.26 MB)
If you need information about these codes as they apply before the updated codes take effect on 1 January 2025, you can find them below, listed with an earlier varied date.
Codes of practice provide information on a specific issue and help you achieve legal standards.
Remember, these codes don't cover every risk which may arise. It's best for you to consider all hazards connected to your work, not only those that are regulated. If you're a duty holder, you can use another method to meet your legal duties. But you need to make sure your approach gives the same or a higher standard of work health and safety than the relevant code of practice.
