Case 17

The worker lodged an Application for Compensation for an alleged soft tissue trauma to the neck and shoulder on her journey to work on 8 October 2009. The claim was accepted and benefits were paid from 9 October 2009 to 23 December 2009.

The worker was found to be working during this claim as a console operator from 9 October 2009, the day after the injury, until the end of the claim and failed to advise WorkCover.

On 19 May 2011, the worker pleaded guilty to fraud and was fined $2,000, ordered to pay restitution of $9,967 and costs.
