Case 28
On 24 September 2008, the worker lodged an Application for Compensation for physical injuries suffered in a fall whilst working. The claim was accepted and a total of $109,277 was paid out in compensation for the period 24 September 2008 to 30 November 2010. The claim was accepted for multiple injuries and an additional psychological condition.
Whilst in receipt of WorkCover benefits, the worker entered into a business partnership selling pre-loved children's school uniforms. She did not notify WorkCover of her return to work within ten days.
On 5 March 2012 the worker pleaded guilty to one charge of fraud for return to calling and two charges of providing false and misleading information to WorkCover. She was fined $4,000 and ordered to pay restitution of $5,498.13 and costs.
