Case 33

The worker made an Application for Compensation in April 2011 initially for bruising to the right side of her body as a result of a motor vehicle accident that occurred during the course of her employment. This later led to the onset of a post-traumatic stress disorder. The claim was accepted and benefits were paid from 12 April 2011 to 18 November 2011.

Information was received that the worker was working as a security guard at a hotel wearing a security firm uniform

Evidence was obtained showing the worker had in fact been working on and off for the security company since 15 April 2011.

On 2 November 2012 the worker pleaded guilty to one count of fraud and two counts of providing false and misleading information to WorkCover. She was sentenced to nine months imprisonment wholly suspended for 12 months and ordered to pay restitution of $32,279.80
