15 August 2023
Kickstart your September with Electrical Safety Week 2023 a series of events for electrical industry leaders, workers, contractors and apprentices.
The week gets underway in Brisbane with the Electrical Safety Summit on Tuesday, 5 September at Victoria Golf Club in Brisbane.
Former Brisbane Lions captain Simon Black will share his experiences of what it takes to be and lead the best team. Queensland’s Commissioner for Electrical Safety Keith McKenzie will provide an up-to-date account of electrical competency and skills maintenance. Electrical Safety Office head, Donna Heelan will share updates from the Government’s perspective and Ergon Energy’s Melinda Williams will chat about diversity in the electrical industry.
Electrical apprentices won’t miss out either, register to join rugby league legend Johnathon Thurston for breakfast at Bracken Ridge TAFE on Wednesday, 6 September. Learn how to get the right start in your career and stay safe at work. Mates in Construction’s Josh Waddington will discuss mental health and resilience, and you’ll also hear more about the electrical industry from those on the ground.
Register for the Electrical Industry Safety webinar to hear international speaker and author, Anton Guinea, share his story could have died…you don’t have to, about surviving an arc flash incident on Thursday 7, September. Anton was only 21 when he received second-degree burns to 15 per cent of his body after using a steel ruler in a switchboard. This gave Anton a deep understanding of the risks of working under pressure and he is committed to sharing his story to help electrical workers stay safe.
Not in Brisbane? That’s okay! All events will be livestreamed so register for Electrical Safety Week events today.
Ends.
