Ban on engineered stone from 1 July 2024

Following the agreement of a national ban of engineered stone in December 2023, Workplace Health and Safety Queensland (WHSQ) reminds all stakeholders that the ban is now in effect (as at 1 July 2024).

The ban applies to the manufacturing, supply, processing, and installation of benchtops, panels, and slabs.

Exemptions can be sought for repairs, removal, and minor modifications to existing installed products, and can be permitted under a national framework, subject to notification to workplace health and safety regulators.
