Skills maintenance is changing

To renew an electrical worker licence, you must complete a skills maintenance assessment within two years of the licence renewal date.

Since the early 2000’s, we have provided an online skills maintenance test to enable licence holders to meet this requirement.

Following an independent review of Queensland’s electrical licensing regime, recommendations were made to improve the current skills maintenance platform. This included improving the rigour around identifying the person taking the test.

What does this mean for electrical work licence holders?

The online skills maintenance assessment is changing to include the requirement for licence holders to verify their identity through myGovID prior to commencing the assessment. It will be on a new platform and have a new look and feel that will be easier for licence holders to navigate to conduct the test.

Download the myGovID app to your mobile device and complete the standard identity strength requirements which include linking at least two Australian identity documents.

The email address used to register for myGovID will need to be the same email associated with your electrical licence record to access the skill maintenance test. If you need to confirm these details, contact us on 1300 632 993.

The new platform will be released later this year. Keep an eye out for further information.
