Australian residents affected by home asbestos scare. A reminder about houses built before 1990s

According to news reports in recent weeks, several Victorian homeowners called for aid after discovering their homes were asbestos affected.

Residents of Wodonga said they understood asbestos containing materials made their way into their roofs through installation works.

In one case, a homeowner in the area called upon an electrician to investigate an issue of flickering lights. The contractor entered the roof and was shocked to discover the find.

This is a timely reminder to all contractors working in ceiling spaces to exercise vigilance, and for industries connected to homes built before the 1990s to be wary of the presence of asbestos containing materials, and what steps can be taken if discovered.
