Nominations closing soon: Electrical Safety Board and Licensing Committee

Do you have practical skills and experience in electrical safety? Are you a leader in your industry or community? And are you passionate about improving electrical safety in Queensland?

If so, nominations are now open for membership of the Electrical Safety Board and the Electrical Licensing Committee.

The Electrical Safety Board is Queensland’s peak advisory body established under the Electrical Safety Act 2002. The Board provides advice and makes recommendations to the Minister for Industrial Relations, and Queensland’s electrical safety regulator, the Electrical Safety Office.

A key role of the Board is to promote electrical safety in workplaces and the community, in order to foster and increase awareness of potential risks associated with electricity and ways to improve electrical safety.

The Board is comprised of worker, employer and community representatives. Nominations for membership are being sought for a new term commencing on 1 October 2023.

The Electrical Licensing Committee is an independent committee established under the Electrical Safety Act 2002 to provide advice and recommendations on electrical licensing and training to Queensland’s Electrical Safety Board.

A key role of the committee is taking necessary disciplinary action against holders of electrical licences and reviewing decisions of Queensland’s electrical safety regulator about electrical licences.

The committee is comprised of worker, employer and community representatives, as well as technical experts.
