Product recall: LG Home Energy Storage System Batteries
An urgent safety warning notice has been issued by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) for the recall of LG batteries, warning of the potential fire risks involved with some LG solar home storage lithium-ion batteries, including advice for what your consumers should do.
According to the ACCC, the batteries can overheat and catch fire without warning – at great risk to homeowners. Affected LG batteries may be in other branded systems including SolaX and in un-branded solar energy systems:
- PRA 2020/18529 – LG Energy Solution Australia Pty Ltd (formerly LG Chem Australia Pty Ltd) — ESS Home Energy Storage System Batteries.
- PRA 2022/19420 – SolaX Power Aus Pty Ltd – LG S/A Gen2 Home Energy Storage System (ESS) Batteries.
- PRA 2022/19550 – LG Energy Solution Australia Pty Ltd (formerly LG Chem Australia Pty Ltd) — LG ESS Home Energy Storage System Batteries.
Recall advice said the affected batteries have been supplied nationally since 2016 through multiple retailers.
