Safety concerns: Plug-in heater recall

The ESO strongly recommends all Australian households discontinue using this type of plug-into-wall heater (pictured). These devices have integral pins which plug into a socket outlet – this can put pressure on the pins and the socket outlet.

The recall follows action by electrical safety regulators implemented in late 2023 to support a change in the Australian Standards to prevent equipment with this design from being sold on the Australian market. This was implemented in December 2023. Unfortunately, despite the Australian Standard change, some of these devices made it to Australian stores.

Please remind the community to always purchase electrical items displaying the regulatory compliance mark (RCM). You should always exercise caution when buying electrical appliances online that may not meet Australian Safety standards.
