Farm safety calendar requests

Calling all sparkies and safety champs – it’s that time of year again! The 2025 Farm Safety Calendar is out, and trust us, it's more than just 12 months of cute kid drawings. Behind the colourful crayon art, there’s a serious (but fun) message: keeping everyone safe on the farm, especially when it comes to electricity.

We had an amazing turnout this year, with over 1,500 entries flooding in from across Queensland, including some impressive safety wisdom from kids in places like Mount Isa School of the Air and Cairns School of Distance Education. These little legends weren’t just drawing for fun – they were helping spread the word about vital safety topics like electrical safety, tractor safety, and even quad bike safety (yes, helmets always!). And the best part? The competition has seen over 12,000 entries since it all kicked off!

Why Competitions Like This Matter

Sure, it’s fun to see how kids interpret big topics like electrical safety, but there’s a bigger reason we do this. It’s about getting the next generation thinking about safety from the get-go. These farm safety messages, including important messages about electrical safety, are hitting home in schools, families, and communities—making safety engaging and saving lives along the way.

And who doesn't love a good prize? Each of our 12 winning students scored $250, while their schools received $500 to keep promoting safety education. The competition also aligns to the Australian Curriculum General capability: Literacy and the Health and Physical Education learning area. Plus, their artwork is now helping keep 30,000 Queenslanders a bit safer every day as they flip through the calendar!

Check out our electrical safety winning entries below from Madison Agius (Grade 6, Homebush State School) and Jai Spence-Grau (Grade 4, Tent Hill Lower State School) who said ‘overhead powerlines are dangerous – don’t park equipment, operate machinery or plant trees or crops under them’ and ‘don’t use damaged electrical equipment’. Thanks to our judges, industry representatives from AgForce and Queensland Farmers’ Federation along with representatives from the Office of Industrial Relations.
