Exclusion zones help eliminate the hazard

Farmers are reminded to establish exclusion zones around mobile plant when operating on farms after a worker sustained fatal crush injuries undertaking fencing activities on a rural property last year.

Mobile plant such as delivery trucks, forklifts and earthmoving machinery are frequently involved in serious incidents and primary industry workers need to remember to always establish an exclusion zone.

Early investigations into last year’s incident found that the tractor equipped with a ram and auger setup at the rear was being used for the digging of holes and post installation.

Following the completion of several holes, the ram and auger configuration disengaged and subsequently fell on the worker.
