Construction in the agriculture, foresty and fisheries workplaces
The Work Health and Safety Regulation 2011 (Chapter 6) clearly sets out how certain risks for construction work must be managed.
Section 292 of the Regulation defines a construction project as:
'A project that involves construction work where the cost of the construction work is $250,000 or more.'
What is and isn't construction work?
Construction work means any work carried out in connection with the construction, alteration, conversion, fitting-out, commissioning, renovation, repair, maintenance, refurbishment, demolition, decommissioning or dismantling of a structure.
General construction induction training
A person conducting a business or undertaking must ensure that general construction induction training is provided to a worker engaged by the person who is to carry out construction work, if the worker:
- has not successfully completed general construction induction training
- successfully completed general construction induction training more than two years previously and has not carried out construction work in the preceding two years.
Examples of construction work in the agriculture, fisheries and forestry industry that would require induction training and/or work method statement:
