Tilt-up and pre-cast construction
Tilt-up and pre-cast construction includes:
- casting of panels
- panel lifting
- rigging systems
- propping and securing panels.
This type of work is becoming a more common form of construction. Workers involved in these activities are exposed to a number of significant risks, including:
- the risk of a fall from height
- the risk of falling objects, such as concrete panels
- risks associated with mobile plant (e.g. cranes and elevating work platforms), including being struck or crushed.
Legislation
The Tilt-up and Pre-cast Construction Code of Practice 2003 (PDF, 0.96 MB) provides guidance on managing the associated risks.
